While I prepare for the Tough Mudder obstacle race at Northstar in 3 days....I begin to realize this is REALLY the first time I am starting to THINK about the race, as I know I need new shoes, some gear etc. --to get prepared. When I competed for the first time - show day, was soooo in my head everyday...the visualizing, the unknown, the head games my own self played, the vulnerability etc---and I laugh (at myself) now because all I was doing is presenting myself, the hard work I did day in and day out to lean and build my physique. My presentation of myself was walking in sparkly heals in a very skimpy sparkly suit with jewelry and make up (glam glam) posing for judges and a room full of people on a stage....No weather conditions, no obstacles - just walking the stage to music. I over thought every second on how that day might go for 6 months straight - everyday I was breathing and visualizing and focusing. Here I am 3 days away from a race that will TEST ME physically and mentally yet I remain calm and ready no matter what. No head games - just ready to check this off my bucket list and get it done. I have to share that this past week, my food has been straight, meals clean, loving my Arbonne Nutrition helping my body health wise but also recovery wise-- my head filled with positive people and positive reading ---therefore I feel ready. My food is my mood and it all works in synergy to what I am thinking, feeling and how I act out my day.
The point of my entry today is... while I was at the gym today, I was reading a chapter in my favorite book of all times: "Three Feet from Gold" and it made me realize I needed to share this today. Maybe I just needed to write it out for my own self...or maybe you needed to hear it....I don't know....but here it goes:
Our mind will not allow us to think of something we cannot accomplish, so when you think of something, you know IT IS possible...because an image appears after we think it .....that means you know it is possible and if you can think or dream it - YOU NEED TO DO IT! YOU CAN DO IT! Doesn't mean right now, maybe you need to prepare a little or get some coaching to get ready....but follow through is SO IMPORTANT! Remember when you commit to something, (make a goal) it is a signed contract with yourself!
Wish me luck this weekend as we kick butt in Tough Mudder with our amazing team representing Mini's House of Pain - the world class training facility right here in El Dorado Hills we have been trainign at for over 10 years! You shoudl come check it out! In fact - join us this Sunday for the Open House Grand Opening Celebration at 4pm - come check out what the unique gym in all about. Food, drinks, music, raffles and fun. Its a family friendly event. Or message me with questions.
There is NOTHING like waking up in good company....good company meaning a great attitude and positive thinking---your own thoughts. "Did you know your day and attitude are determined in the first 5 minutes after waking up".- Authors, Three Feet from Gold. Good sleep, eating clean and getting exercise contribute to our mind body and spirit---and will determine those first 5 minutes! What you did Saturday and Sunday WILL show up on Monday! I hope you're feeling GREAT TODAY ---ALL DAY LONG! ~Tiffany
It's 8pm and I am already thinking about tomorrow's food I am going to eat - NOT because I am dreaming about food, but because I need to ALWAYS be food -or shall I say it in actual terms "FUEL READY" because when it's time to eat - it's time to eat and there's no time for cooking in my busy day. So I do that tonight, YES RIGHT NOW, I act quickly and start prepping this evening to be ready for my day tomorrow. I'm already up anyways...packing my kids lunch, making protein bars for my Discover Arbonne and New Product Launch event this Saturday Morning , so while I am doing these things I am also cooking.
So what is it, right? I have:
Ground Turkey cooking on the stove top with with mushrooms, zucchini, onions, Thyme, Sage, Oregano and Savory seasonings.
Yams baking in the oven- Plain
Pre-made my breakfast which is sauteed broccoli, zucchini,, mushrooms with scrambled eggs and Yams.
Pre-belnded my Arbonne Chocolate Protein shake mixed with Blue Berries, ice and walnuts
Pre-made my lunch salad without dressing which consists of Spring and Spinach salad Greens, Cucumbers, Asparagus. Tomorrow I will add to it: 4oz Ground turkey, 1/4 cup Yams, sprinkle of olive oil, 4 spritz of Braggs Liquid Aminos
It's 9 pm and I am FUEL READY FOR MY DAY! Everything is done in 1 hours time. You see it takes little time to be prepared and live a healthy lifestyle. It is truly a CHOICE! We all have a choice to go the convenience route or MAKE TIME. A great mentor and coach of mine has taught me great things but one thing that will always stick is when he said, "Tiff if you don't take care of yourself, guess what...NO ONE WILL!" This is taking care of myself along with getting my butt to the gym in the AM too! You see when I take care of myself, it is not selfish it's actually delivering my family a better wife and mom, I am a better business woman and I stay true to myself by getting to the gym and being in authenticity through out my day ALL BECAUSE OF THE FOOD I CHOOSE TO PUT INTO MY MOUTH. It starts there...Food is MY MOOD!
YUMMY! I love a few dashed of cinnamon in my protein shakes not only because it has many health benefits but the spice is so TASTY.... gives my already tastes OH SO GOOD Arbonne Vanilla or Chocolate protein shakes a HINT of a KICK!
Some information I gathered about the health benefits of Cinnamon:
Cinnamon is a spice that comes from the branches of wild trees from the genusCinnamomum - native to the Caribbean, South America, and Southeast Asia.
The spice is commonly used in cooking. However, cinnamon is also associated with a number of different health benefits.
Cinnamon has been consumed since 2000 BC in Ancient Egypt, where it was very highly prized.
In medieval times doctors used cinnamon to treat conditions such as coughing, arthritis and sore throats.
There are two main different types of cinnamon:
Cinnamomum verum (Ceylon cinnamon), most commonly used in the Western world.
Cinnamomum aromaticum (Cassia cinnamon or Chinese cinnamon), which is also common.
Cinnamon is currently used to help treat muscle spasms, vomiting, diarrhea, infections, the common cold, and loss of appetite. In addition, some men claim cinnamon is effective in treatingerectile dysfunction (ED).
Research suggests that cinnamon can lower blood sugar in people with type 1 or type 2diabetes, according to Diabetes UK - although high quality research supporting the claim remains scarce. Cassia cinnamon has been shown to have the most effect on blood sugar in humans.
According to the National Institutes of Health, cinnamaldehyde, a chemical found in Cassia cinnamon, can fight against bacterial and fungal infections.
The study authors concluded that consuming up to 6 grams of cinnamon per day "reduces serum glucose, triglyceride, LDL cholesterol, and total cholesterol in people with type 2 diabetes." and that "the inclusion of cinnamon in the diet of people with type 2 diabetes will reduce risk factors associated with diabetes and cardiovascular diseases."
HIV - a survey of some Indian medicinal plants for anti-HIV activity revealed that cinnamon can be effective against HIV. According to the study authors "the most effective extracts against HIV-1 and HIV-2 are respectively Cinnamomum cassia (bark) and Cardiospermum helicacabum(shoot + fruit)."
